Matthew Goss takes the sprint on Stage 3 of the Giro this afternoon.
Whilst villain of the day, Roberto Ferrari took the prize for “the most idiotic move during a sprint” award!
Bringing down Mark Cavendish, hard! Which resulted in a 60kph pile up including numerous riders. Most notably Taylor Phinney. What first looked like a broken ankle turned out to be not as serious.
“I’ve got a hole in my foot but I hope there’s nothing serious,” said the American as he was limping along. “I’m feeling better than straight after the crash. Fortunately, tomorrow is a rest day,” he added prior to heading to Billund’s airport and flying to Verona for Wednesday’s team time trial.
Still loving those shoes!
Today’s stage was dedicated to the memory of Wouter Weylandt who tragically died on the descent of the Passo del Bocco climb on Stage 3 of last year’s race.
